Hey buddy,
I run two newsletters on beehiiv.
Both of them have a public web presence. Every issue I publish lives on a URL that Google can find, index, and rank. Which means every issue is technically a piece of SEO content, a blog post that could be bringing in organic traffic from people who've never heard of me.
It almost never does.
Not because the content is bad. Because the SEO is nonexistent.
No optimised title tags. No meta descriptions. No keyword strategy. No internal linking between posts.
Just raw content sitting on the internet, invisible to search engines, doing nothing between send dates.
I've looked at fixing this. Ahrefs starts at $129/month. Semrush at $139/month.
Both are built for large websites and marketing teams and not for a solo newsletter operator trying to squeeze some Google traffic out of 60 issues.
Nobody has built the right tool for this. That's the idea.
Why I'm Handing This To You
I am the customer for this product.
Every newsletter operator on beehiiv is the customer for this product. There are tens of thousands of them, most of them ignoring SEO entirely because the tools that exist are too expensive, too complex, and not built for their specific platform.
I can't build this myself. I'm a newsletter guy, not a developer. But I know exactly what I'd want it to do. And I know I'd pay for it the moment it existed.
The Blueprint
The product is a SaaS tool that connects to your beehiiv account and handles SEO optimisation for your newsletter's web presence automatically, without needing Ahrefs or Semrush or a marketing team.
Here's how it works:
Connect. The tool plugs into beehiiv via their API. It pulls all your published posts — titles, content, meta descriptions, headers, URLs. One-time setup, two minutes, done.
Analyse. It scans every post and flags what's missing or underoptimised.
Title tags that are too long or too short. Missing meta descriptions. Posts with no internal links to other issues. Thin content that won't rank. Headers that don't include target keywords.
A clear priority list of what to fix first, ranked by impact.
Optimise. This is where it gets interesting. The tool doesn't just tell you what's wrong — it fixes it.
Using AI, it generates optimised title tags, writes meta descriptions, suggests internal links to relevant past issues, and rewrites headers to include keywords your audience is actually searching for.
One click to review, one click to apply. The changes push back to your beehiiv posts via the API.
Track. A simple dashboard showing how your posts are performing in search over time. Which issues are getting organic traffic, which keywords you're ranking for, where you're moving up or down.
The kind of data that tells you what's working without needing a $130/month tool to interpret it.
How it makes money: Free tier — connect your account, analyse up to 5 posts, see what's broken.
Pro at $19/month — full analysis across all posts, AI-generated optimisations, one-click apply, ranking tracker.
Agency tier at $99/month — manage multiple beehiiv accounts. For newsletter consultants and growth agencies serving multiple clients.
$19/month is nothing compared to Ahrefs or Semrush. And unlike those tools, this one is built specifically for beehiiv — which means every feature is relevant, nothing is overwhelming, and the learning curve is flat.
One thing to verify before building: beehiiv's API terms around third-party tools modifying post content. beehiiv is generally developer-friendly and their API does support read/write access to post content but before you invest in building this, confirm that pushing automated edits back to posts is explicitly allowed under their terms.
A quick email to their developer team would settle it in 24 hours.
If it's allowed, you have a very clean product. If it's restricted, the tool still works as an analysis and recommendation layer — just without the one-click apply feature.
Why Right Now
beehiiv has grown explosively. Tens of thousands of newsletters, hundreds of millions of emails sent monthly. And almost none of those newsletter operators are thinking about SEO.
That's changing.
As newsletters mature as a format, the smart operators are realising that organic search is a free, compounding acquisition channel that runs 24/7 without a send schedule.
A well-optimised archive of 50 issues can bring in hundreds of new subscribers a month from Google — subscribers who found you because they were searching for something you wrote about.
The tools to do this don't exist for beehiiv specifically. Generic SEO tools don't understand the platform, don't integrate with the API, and aren't priced for solo creators.
The window to build the category-defining tool for this specific platform is open right now — before beehiiv builds it themselves or a larger player notices the gap.
The One Thing That Makes It Work
The one-click apply feature is everything.
Newsletter operators like me are not SEO people. They're writers. They don't want to learn keyword research or manually edit meta descriptions across 60 posts. They want to click a button and have it done.
If the tool just tells them what's wrong, most of them will close the tab and never come back. If the tool fixes it for them in one click — that's the product people pay for, tell their friends about, and never cancel.
Build the analysis first. Make the one-click apply the feature that unlocks the paid tier. That's your conversion mechanic.
Go Build It
Find a developer or learn to build it. The beehiiv API documentation is public and well-written. The AI layer for generating optimised content is straightforward with GPT-4.
Start with the analysis feature. Show newsletter operators what's broken across their posts. That alone is valuable enough to charge for. The optimisation layer comes next.
Go.

P.S. — I'd be your first paying customer. Genuinely. If you build this and it works, reply to this email. I'll sign up before you've even launched publicly.
Also if you actually build a good enough product and get traction, you might be looking at a decent exit from beehiiv itself.
